The power of youth in goji berries

The first place among antioxidants contained in goji berries is taken by vitamin C and carotenoids, that give fruits a characteristic color. One portion of berries covers your daily demand for vitamin A. Thanks to it, your skin looks radiant. Your hair and nails are strong.

Goji fruits are a source of niacin and phosphorus. These microelements provide antioxidant properties as well as contribute to the slimming process.

While eaten regularly, goji berries ensure huge amounts of iron, zinc, and selenium. Therefore, you may feel like bursting with energy, get sick less frequently and relieve the symptoms of chronic infections.

A portion of berries (112 g) covers 10% of your daily need for protein. The fruits are also a valuable snack stopping hunger (fiber) and delivering energy (complex carbohydrates).

Goji berries in your healthy diet

Always eat them when you feel like having a snack. Berries could be added to oatmeal instead of raisins or put to a yogurt. Be careful with the quantities. A daily portion per adult cannot exceed 70 berries. Children under 10 should not eat more than 35.

DID YOU KNOW?

Some claim that goji berries are a source of youth and longevity. In northern regions of China, where the fruits are picked and eaten on an everyday basis, there are 16 times more people aged 100, than in other parts of the country.

Although so healthy, goji berries also can be overdosed. They contain selenium, that, if consumed in too many quantities, becomes toxic to the liver. The fruits include atropine causing nausea, confusion, and blurred vision.
